As the daughter of separated parents myself, I couldn't help but feel a personal connection with the emotions that this transformation awakens in the protagonist. The biggest challenge was to create illustrations that genuinely and empathetically conveyed the girl's feelings throughout the story, so that each image spoke for itself, without the need for words.
